Najivunia kuwa mkenya!

It has been a very long week for Kenyans in the diaspora who were watching the elections back home with excitement and anticipation.  My phone has been ringing off the hook and I have been following closely the turn of events on social media.  Well,  that is now over... peacefully and now we can sit back and wait for the new chapter.  I must say I am extremely proud (najivunia kuwa mkenya!) of my country and the manner in which everyone, despite their personal opinions, has maintained peace and respect  which is symptomatic of the new philosophy which underpins a people that has gone through so much together.  A philosophy that signifies faith in the court system which is capable and will handle any issues arising.

As Kenya continues its journey so does its diaspora and I guess everyone is just happy that our families are safe and sound.  For the leaders of this beautiful nation, all I have to say is that emotional intelligence should prevail because it is the Sine Qua Non of leadership.

KDLA is working for Kenyans, with Kenyans!

The Kenya Diaspora Leadership Assembly (KDLA), is a believer in the emerging African growth story.  KDLA is a leadership organisation for the Kenyan Diaspora which is made up of Kenyan-born representatives from different countries including UK, USA, Canada, Africa, Middle East and Asia.  It brings together a selfless, formidable group of intellectuals, business consultants, professionals and progressive individuals who are driving change from within the Kenyan diaspora.   KDLA has created an excellent working team based in Nairobi Kenya to deal with issues on behalf of the diaspora which has helped accelerate and streamline its country improvement activities faster than ever before.

KDLA fully understands the need to bridge the current perception gap by telling new stories about Kenya as a country and Kenyans in the diaspora.  We are making the Kenyan diaspora accessible to businesses, family and society.  We give advice on studying, living and working in the diaspora; stories of economic partnerships, growth and opportunity, democratic progress, and human development. We need to change the stereotypes and demystify the Kenyan diaspora. We need to rewrite the news headlines.
